& Whatever It Takes to Build Great Futures

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I'm not sure if I'll like it?
It’s okay, signing up for the Club is not a lifelong commitment! If a Club member comes to the Club and totally wants to leave, our Front Desk staff at both locations are happy to help them call a grown up. Each day at the Club is new and different— we recommend Club members attend each day of the week to get the best judgement of how they like the program. Club members are welcome to try both Club locations before deciding where they’d like to attend most often.

When can I come? Do I have to stay the whole time?
Our program is a drop-in based program, meaning Club members are free to be dropped off and picked up any time within our hours of operation. Members are encouraged to come every day, but are welcome to come as often as they like. Members must be picked up before our program ends (6 PM Bristol Rd / 7 PM Averill), but can be picked up any time from the Club.

Club members are not permitted to return to the Club once they have left, or come and go from the Club during programming. Please contact your Club’s Unit Director for questions.

Can I do my homework at the Club?
Totally! We have educational spaces at each Club location where Club members can work on homework, get help from our staff and peers, and utilize our resources for assignments and projects. We have computer and WI-FI access at each Club (but only if you’re doing you’re homework 👀), as well as printing and arts and crafts supplies.

Club staff communicate closely with several local schools to have the most up-to-date information on student curriculum.

Please call us at 810-249-3413 with any unanswered questions. We would be happy to help you!

How much does it cost to join? Are there requirements?
The Club is offering FREE memberships to all youth aged 7 to 17. There are no requirements to joining the Club— all that is needed is a parent/guardian to fill out a Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint Membership Application, found here!

Is it really free?
Yes! The Club utilizes grant funding and donations to provide no-cost memberships to young people in Flint and Genesee County. We do not charge our Club families for anything, including membership, field trips, and meals.

I'm 17 years old and my brother is 7. Can we both come to the Club?
Yes— Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint serves all youth between the ages of 7 and 17, during after-school time and summer!

Do I have to bring a lunch?
No— both Clubs provide snack and supper after-school (lunch and snack during summer) from Foodbank of Eastern Michigan during program hours. Club members are welcome to bring additional food/beverage items with them.
