Join us for an enriching afterschool program filled with engaging, fun activities designed to inspire and educate.

About Our Afterschool Programs

Our Afterschool Program is designed to provide a safe, fun, and enriching environment for kids and teens (ages 7-17) during the afterschool hours and school breaks. Running from 2 to 7 PM, Monday through Friday (2 to 6 PM at our Bristol Rd. location), our program is packed with a variety of activities that cater to all interests and age groups.

Program Highlights:
Free Membership: There are no fees or requirements to joining the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint. Get started by filling out an online membership application here.

Free Meals & Snacks: Snack and dinner are provided to all Club members, free of charge, through our partnership with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.

Field Trips & Special Events: Our Afterschool Program features various exciting field trip opportunities and special events designed to provide new experiences, learning opportunities, and plenty of fun. From college trips to wildlife experiences and magicians at the Club, we offer experiences and events that cater to all different interests and age groups.

Mental Health: Youth can participate in activities designed to support mental wellness, including mindfulness exercises and stress-relief techniques, with Mrs. Haley and Ms. Parul, Licensed Professional Counselors from Mott Children’s Health Center (MCHC). We also offers Family Mental Health sessions led by our MCHC staff to provide parents & caregivers with information, tools, and resources— stay tuned for upcoming session information.

Teen-Focused Programming & Space: We offer dedicated teens-only recreation spaces at both Club locations, as well as a teens-only fitness room at our Averill Club. Our full-time Teen Service Specialists at each location plan engaging activities, field trips, and guest speakers to enhance the teen experience, as well as providing mentorship & guidance to Teen Club members.

Homework Help & Tutoring: Club members receive assistance with homework and study skills in a supportive, educational environments. Our dedicated staff and volunteers are available to help youth succeed academically while building confidence and independence.

Friendship & Mentorship: Club kids build lasting friendships and receive guidance from caring adult and teen mentors.

1. What are the age requirements for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint’s programs?
The program is designed for kids and teens ages 7 to 17. A birth certificate may be requested for youth who are 7 years old.

2. What are the hours of operation?
The Averill Afterschool Program runs from 2 PM to 7 PM, Monday through Friday. The Bristol Rd. Afterschool Program runs from 2 PM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday.

3. Is there a cost to join the program?
No, membership is free! There are no fees or requirements to join the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint.

4. How can I register my child for the program?

5. Are meals provided for the kids?
Yes! All Club members receive free snacks and dinner through our partnership with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.

6. Are there specific programs for teens?
Absolutely! We have dedicated teens-only recreation rooms and fitness room (Averill only), along with programs specifically designed for teens, including engaging activities, field trips, workforce development, and mentorship opportunities.

7. What should my child bring to the program?
We recommend that your child bring any homework materials they may need, as well as comfortable clothing for physical activities. All necessary supplies for our activities are provided. Please leave electronics, video games, toys, games, sports equipment, art supplies, and other personal belongings at home to minimize the risk for damage/loss.

8. Is transportation available for field trips?
Yes, we provide transportation for all scheduled field trips and special events.

9. How many days does my child need to attend the program?
We encourage regular attendance to help kids and teens benefit fully from the program. However, there is no strict requirement for how many days they must attend each week. Families can choose the days that work best for them, whether it’s one day a week or all five. Our goal is to provide a flexible and supportive environment for all participants!
