This summer, the Club has four different programs employing teenagers. Part of the mission of the organization is to provide opportunities for teens to build the skills they need to succeed in the current job market.
Youth Development Professionals-in-Training (YDPIT) is supported by the Flint Kids Fund at the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. This program focuses on leadership, community service, and career exploration.
Summer Youth Initiative (SYI) is funded through the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce in partnership with its TeenQuest program. TeenQuest is a pre-employment training program that prepares teens to gain an edge professionally and personally and stand out.
Neighborhood Engagement Hub (NEH) engages teens to be active in their community. NEH teenagers work in the hoop house and learn about wellness and nutrition, imparting their knowledge on gardening and composting to younger Club members.
Flint STRIVE provides support and training that leads to livable wage employment and societal reintegration to youth at a critical stage. It is during this time where that foundation can be laid to result in a committed, well-established and maintained work ethic.
Helping kids explore their interests and passions aids them in building employability skills and connects them to real-world work experiences. To get involved, contact Amber Miller, Director of Programs and Operations at amiller@bgclubflint.org or 810-249-3413.
